Chicago, I miss you

'One hour', the voice said. One hour until I'd see the flashing sign. That box of a place with the "ENTER" sign glowing red-orange. The flame inside was dying. Every time the wheels moved, more fire was stomped into embers.
When will it stop?
With my forehead pressed against the chilled window, I brought my camera up and aimed. When it's cold and I'm feeling frozen, I'm reminded of this photo. I'm reminded of my last breaths of fresh air, the way it smelled, how smooth it made my hands feel. I remember that I'm not going to be stuck here forever, that seasons change and time keeps turning like the wheels of the bus that drove me away to Chicago last April.
"Spring is coming and we will be alright."

  1. I remember when you went to Chicago last April! It's all coming back to me now. You had some really cool photos from the trip, if I remember correctly.

I hope you get the chance to go back soon. You really deserve a vacation and some time in a fabulous city.

Also, thank you for the sweet comment you left on my blog. Sometimes when I get sad, it makes me feel a little better to know I have such wonderful friends like you online. I wish I could see you in person but I accept your virtual hug just as I would a real one. xoxoxo!
